12in12

The purpose of the 12 IN 12 program is to allow children up to age 5 who are attending pre-kindergarten, to see, hear, and touch individuals whose lives have been enriched through their ability to read and their love of reading. The first six years of experiences in a child’s life play a major factor in determining her or his contribution to his or her community and quality of life. Children learn by what they see at home, play, school and in their communities. Careers run in families and begin at home. The popular saying, “Well begun is half done” is at the heart of the12 IN 12 program. Exposing children at the beginning of their lives to different people who have experienced the financial and other rewards of reading is the most effective way to help our children to develop BSA (big scary audacious) dreams and hopes for their future.

Here is how the 12 IN 12 program works:

  1. Reading-Career Partners will commit to sending a team of one male and one female (Reading-Career Ambassadors) to read/tell a story to Pre-K students on the first Tuesday of each month.
  2. Reading-Career Partners will be responsible for making arrangement with a school that is within five miles radius of their location to read to Pre-K students.
  3. Reading-Career Partners and the school will select the story/book for each visit.

This is a win-win for the children and the Reading-Career Ambassadors’ organization. Every child is an organization's future customer or employee. Every child is connected to an adult who is a potential customer or employee for the organization. When children learn the joy of reading, they become contented lifelong learners, contributors and earners.

While we encourage Reading-Career Ambassadors to bring a book for each child, per school visit, it is not necessary, and will depend on the number of students. Some Easy Ways To Acquire Books for Every Child:

  1. First Books at http://www.firstbook.org/ and Books by the Bushel at http://www.booksbythebushel.com for as little as fifty cents.
  2. Host a book drive and place boxes in offices or building and at events for donations.

Pre-kindergarteners love to discover new hand held reading devices such as Nooks and Kindles.

Anyone who loves to share the joy of reading can serve as a Reading-Career Ambassador. To learn more and become a Reading-Career Ambassador, visit ReadingPaysMore at www.readingpaysmore.com) All Reading-Career Ambassadors will be eligible for our Face Time! Face Time! Award to recognize organizations that help students of all ages to succeed in school and work by sending reading and career ambassadors to schools and inviting students to the work place.

Ahhh! The power of love and great expectations for our children!!
